Staff Members Delighted as Rescue Dog Displays Adorable Smile
When Cheech was just two years old, he was found wandering the streets of Texas and taken to a big shelter. Luckily, he was later rescued by the City of Waller Animal Shelter and Rescue. Despite his young age, he seemed nervous and scared in his unfamiliar surroundings. However, Cheech quickly showed everyone that he was more resilient than they thought.
Upon his arrival at the shelter, Cheech found himself in a kennel and started making a peculiar yet endearing expression. Some of the staff and volunteers mistook it for a sign of distress instead of seeing the humor in it.
However, Cheech didn’t take long to charm everyone with his adorable and mischievous smile. Leah Sipe, who is the director of the City of Waller Animal Shelter and Rescue, recalls how she called for other volunteers to take a look at him when she first saw him in the kennel. Despite his snarling, she was amazed by his pleasant demeanor and even placed her hand in the cage, leaving the other volunteers in disbelief. Cheech had won their hearts with his vivacious and friendly personality.
Sipe was eager to spread the joy of Cheech’s infectious smile to a wider audience. Hence, he posted a picture of Cheech beaming with delight on the shelter’s Facebook page. Little did he know that the internet would be smitten with Cheech in no time. The post garnered a whopping 7,000 shares, and the cheerful pup was flooded with over 50 adoption requests. The shelter was ecstatic to see so many people willing to give Cheech a loving home.
Not to forget about Cheech, the team finally found the perfect fit after sifting through a multitude of applications. One applicant stood out as she had unfortunately lost one of her beloved dogs to cancer, leaving her other furry friend, Dusty, feeling lonely and down. It was clear that he needed a new companion to help him through this tough time.
Upon meeting Cheech, it was clear that he had found his perfect match. Those who are familiar with Cheech couldn’t be happier that he has found a loving family. The City of Waller Animal Shelter and Rescue is in the process of being constructed from an old jail and is set to open on November 12th. With Cheech’s charming demeanor, the shelter is sure to have a long queue of prospective adopters for its furry residents.
